I appreciate everything
Good midnight again! I'm here to blog about my Genting trip with Yew Hong :D
PICTURE HEAVY POST!
WEDNESDAY
Our trip was scheduled on Thursday 12 Jan to Saturday 14 Jan, so on 11 Jan Wednesday, baby stayed over at my house so we could leave together in the early morning on Thursday. I was really happy he could stay over and the fact that my parents allowed me to go on this trip with him alone :D It may not be much of a big deal to a lot of people out there because their parents probably give them a lot of freedom and or something, but my parents aren't like that and considering what happened in the past when Yewhong and I just started, having earned my parents' trust is really a big deal.
Anyway on Wednesday after school baby and I had dimsum at Victor's Kitchen at Sunshine Plaza. We went there for their supposedly famous Liu Sha Bao which is actually Salted Egg Custard Bun (?) which didn't turn out to be fantastic. And these days, baby seem to be super into dimsum though he claims that he's always liked dimsum (like, we've never eaten dimsum together [exp with my parents] since we've been together until 4 days ago). I've tried a lot of Liu Sha Bao, but take it from me, the BEST Liu Sha Bao is at a restaurant called Cathay in The Grand Cathay. For real. I can't be bothered to describe it, but it's freaking the best bao in the world. Ownz char shao bao to the max, and I'm not even bao fan.
Watching Meet Dave before sleeping. I joined him at the third storey. Thank goodness we didn't throw our old mattresses away :D
I felt quite bad because I think baby didn't really sleep well. I think he wasn't used to sleeping at the third storey, plus it was more dusty and cold :( I think he's used to sleeping in my room.
The bus was scheduled to leave at 6am. We decided to have Macs breakfast and I had to wake up at 4am to prepare and stuff. Thank goodness my dad fetched us out :D I don't know why, but he's been extra/exceedingly nice ever since baby got closer to us.
1 picture before leaving the house
1 picture of us walking at Tampines Interchange at 5am
1st time taking a coach to Genting...1st time going to Genting. HAHA! :D
Baby thinks the bus is NOT BAD. I think it's FREAKING AWESOME. I believe the disparity in opinion is due to the fact that he hasn't taken a NORMAL coach to Genting before. By normal, I meant those excursion buses that fetch us to Jurong Bird Park or Zoo or something...yeah those with 1 foot leg space. This Five Stars Deluxe Coach had video-on-demand, video games, massager, and more than enough leg space. It even had a movable partition to separate the 2 conjoined seats for maximum privacy. People from all directions cannot see you. An exaggerated way to describe it is that you can create a mini cubicle with just a few buttons.
Before the bus left
Emo kid
Oh we agreed to make this very dramatic expression, but...?
Stop-over at KL for fuel
We took forever to check-in because there were a lot of people checking-in, and also because we were unlucky enough to get a receptionist who seemed to be mentally slow or new at the job so things were slightly screwed and we waited at least 30min at the counter for the problem to be fixed. In fact, we took so long that we managed to meet Thomas and Agnes at the check-in area though their bus came later. They'd coincidentally booked the trip on the same 3 days as us with our buses arriving and leaving at around the same timings :D
After the long bus ride we were starved like mad so we had lunch at some super lousy cafe which served horrible or, at best, mediocre food at a really expensive price. We had no plans for the day so we went back to the hotel room first. Actually we didn't plan anything for the trip at all besides visiting the strawberry farm. Will talk about it later in the post.
Throughout this trip baby had been having headaches and it happened that afternoon so we took a nap from around 4pm to 6plus and left the room after showering.
It was too early for dinner so we decided to explore the entire RW Genting. Surprisingly, it was very small and not that difficult to navigate as I'd expected/remembered. In fact I was rather disappointed. There weren't even many people and more than half of them were there to gamble. The theme park looked pathetic and according to Agnes, a lot of the rides had been shut down. First World Plaza also looked really pathetic. 8 out of 10 shops had sales but I didn't even see anything attractive, nor many people buying those things.
One thing that really killed the mood was that the arcades at Arena of Stars were all closed. Like, wtf? That thing generated A LOT of profit! Why the hell shut it down? And there were always a lot of people! And most importantly, I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO IT!! >:(
Anyway we had Kenny Rogers for dinner. The macaroni cheese tasted weird and they didn't offer corn muffins which baby wanted, but their chicken tasted better than ours in Singapore. It was more tasty and succulent.
We decided to catch The Great Magician at 9pm and had Pulut Hitam for dessert at a Nonya shop. No prizes for guessing who wanted the dessert.
Coincidentally, Thomas and Agnes bought tickets for the same show at the same time! :D Well, the cinema was screwed cos 5minutes into the show, the sound started going haywire...characters' voices were going off-pitch and soon after, the screen went blank. We waited for about 30minutes before the staff decided that their machine couldn't be fixed and refunded us the money :/ Waste of our time.
So the 4 of us went to walk around.
I wanted to go bowling cos this glow-in-the-dark bowling was just too cool!! Too bad there were no sizes for Thomas's ginormous feet. LOL! He actually said he didn't mind walking around on his own while we played but we thought it wasn't so nice so we didn't play it in the end. We wanted to go to the arcade but those in First World Plaza sucked too. They were either empty or not working. Wth.

After that we went to the casino to check it out. I think it was really messy and low-class. LOL! Sad to say, it just felt like a cheap gambling den. We then tried the jackpot machine and it was so funny cos Thomas started the winning streak by winning...............$0.75!!! LOL!!! We fed 10RM into the machine which gave us 200 credits I think. Each turn required 20 credits so effectively we had 10 tries. Not long after, baby actually won us 10RM! It was so funny because it was really a lot compared to Thomas's $0.75 and they actually started to congratulate him. HAHA! Then we wanted to cash out but the machine didn't allow -.- What a scam. Needless to say, we lost all our earnings.
We then went to get supper before they came to our room to play MONOPOLY DEAL! :D Yeah I actually brought it, HAHA!
We actually freaking played 2 games in 2 hours. SUPER LONG!! By the end of the 2 games it was already 1plus am and we were all tired so they went back.
THURSDAY
The boys agreed to meet 10am at Starbucks to check their NS posting, so baby and I had breakfast at Bakery at Genting Hotel before that. Huiling actually recommended it, but I didn't really think I'd really find it. We just sorta chanced upon it :D
In case you were wondering how come we can wake up so early..well, it's because Yewhong has body clock and had been waking up at like 7plus am on average. We sleep on different single beds that are side by side, so everytime he wakes up, he'll come over to my side to cuddle me first for like 10minutes before attempting to dig me out from bed. And if I don't wake up, he'll go back to sleep for another half an hour maybe, and then repeat the process. LOL!
Turkey croissant, hot chocolate, and a cute baby boy :D ♥
The cool hot chocolate, according to Huiling.
It's really sorta cool lah, just tastes bad :/ Like what baby says, it's just novelty
My roast beef sandwich which was good, but would have been better if there were no olives. I never ate olives and I never thought they would have been so yucky.
Later, we met up with T&A but had some trouble with the internet connection so the entire checking of posting was only completed by 11am. Alright it took only half an hour cos we met them around 10.20am. Both of the boys were posted to OCS. Though I'm not 100% excited for Yewhong to be in OCS cos it's going to take up more of his time = less time for me, but I'm still proud of his achievement :D ♥
Somehow after that, baby started feeling uncomfortable and the headache acted up again so we went back to our room for him to take his Panadol while T&A headed to the theme park.
Baby requested for a 10min nap which eventually became 1.5 hours. LOL! The weird thing is, I wasn't even bored at all. I actually enjoyed listening to my iPod and reading the Taiwanese magazine which I bought. Haha! :D
Our initial plan was to go visit the strawberry farm which Huiling suggested since we didn't want to go to the theme park and there wasn't even that much to do in Genting, but baby woke up at 1plus pm and we haven't even had lunch. I decided not to go because after lunch it would have been too late and baby wasn't feeling well too, so we changed plans. I'm very glad we did, because it eventually rained. Though I brought my umbrella, it was never in my handbag, and it would have sucked if we were stranded outside with no umbrella and were not familiar with the place. Plus I doubt our experience there would have been fantastic there since neither of us are strawberry fans and it isn't the strawberry season according to Cuijie.

Had dimsum at a chinese restaurant at Genting Hotel. The food was really good! I thought it was kinda expensive at first, but after deducting GST and also considering at we ordered like 8-9 dishes, it was actually okay since it's actually a restaurant in a hotel..likka atas? We paid around the same price for lunch at Victor's Kitchen, which is like some lousy small shop which had old tables and stools. Worth it right? And the food was much better :D
The plan was to have buffet dinner with T&A and then watch Freeze at 9pm, so after lunch we decided to shop around for a little and catch The Great Magician again.
Nothing really caught my eye over there so I only bought a pair of slippers from Padini Concept Store because my Havaianas are getting too thin.
Because there was really nothing to do, or rather, baby didn't want to do much of the things there, so we went to Ripley's Believe It Or Not.
Freaking big bicep! HAHAHA!!! :D
Yay! I like this photo cos it makes me look slim. Actually it doesn't. Looking into it just makes you dizzy. But somehow this concave mirror gives a slightly slimming effect when you stand far from it.
After Ripley's,we still had some time so we went to Kenny Rogers.
T&A raved about this dessert at Kenny Rogers called Chocolate Oasis which has cake on the outside and chocolate oozing in from the inside. Common enough but it still tastes good :D
We then managed to catch the movie without any disruptions and it was actually pretty funny. Lol! I wouldn't think it was a very good movie or one that I would remember, but it was nice to watch :D
Then met T&A to have dinner at Coffee Terrace at Genting Hotel. It was supposed to be an international buffet but the food just sucks. Lol, we didn't pay a lot either. After GST the meal costs us about 31SGD.
He told me to flare my nostrils...like I would do that in a 100 years. Lol!
We ate till 9pm before baby and I went to catch Freeze at the Genting International Showroom while T&A continued with the buffet until 9.40pm. The show was okay, not bad, but pales in comparison to Voyage De La Vie and The Lion King, both of which I watched. And the seating was very uncomfortable because it was just normal chairs placed in an auditorium. I'd assumed that the seats would be cushioned like those in cinemas or what, but nope...restaurant chairs with cushioned base and back but metal legs and frame :/
Then T&A came over for Monopoly Deal again.
This time there was no supper and the game ended at 12plus cos everyone was just too tired.
Baby and I KO-ed like earlier than planned. We wanted to do face mask and give each other face massages, but we were just too shagged. It seemed that throughout the whole day we'd been eating and walking and doing don't-know-what.
SATURDAY
Baby did his usual dig-me-out-from-sleep routine again. Haha! Sometimes the way he does it was just so adorable :D ♥ Good thing is, after his first round of disturbing at like 6plus am, he went back to sleep and woke up only at 8plus probably going to 9am, when the 2nd round took place and I gave in and got out of bed. We had breakfast at Starbucks cos there wasn't much to eat for breakfast and he wanted to check Facebook using the Wifi there. I had my ♥♥♥♥ Java Chip Frappe and a Baked Shepherd's Pie. I thought the pie wasn't good. I would have loved to have their Spinach Quiche..in fact I wanted it until I realize that they didn't have it in Genting.
We spent a pretty long time in Starbucks before retreating back to our room to give each other facial massages and then checking out by12pm. Our bus would leave at 2.30pm so we were kind of stranded outside. We agreed to have a hotpot+bbq buffet for lunch but baby became apprenhensive about it because he was worried that the food might be pretty bad, but at the same time, there wasn't much choice for us.
While walking around thinking about how to kill time before lunch, we passed by Ah Yat's dimsum menu and decided on it without much hesitation. I wasn't super excited because we already had dimsum the previous day and 2 days prior, but since the baby boy wanted, I just went along...plus I didn't mind too :P
The dimsum here wasn't as good as the previous one, but it was cheaper as well. I would still prefer the previous one I guess. The environment felt nicer...more like a dimsum restaurant :)
We really ate slowly and took our time but there was still too much time on hand- 12 more minutes to kill before registering at the counter to take the return bus. Since before the trip, the both of us had already wanted to do a massage there but it was too expensive. There was a small booth offering 10min neck+shoulder+head massage for 19RM and we went for it. Baby was unwilling at first because he felt that it was not worth the money, but I really wanted to do something and it wasn't that expensive so he patronizingly did it with me. It turned out to be a good decision because the massage was pretty good and we both felt rejuvenated immediately after the massage. One reason I wanted to do it was also cos he was having headache again so I just wanted to make him feel better besides giving him Panadol.
After the massage, we were right on time to board the bus :D And for no good reason, I just felt independent..kinda like an achievement that I made it in Genting for 3 days without any parental supervision and with someone who hasn't been in Genting before :D
Stopped over at Yong Peng for "dinner" where I got 1 beef Ramli burger, 1 box of wedges and 1 cup of corn, but ate less than half of any of these. LOL!
This entire trip has had its fair share of screw-ups, like us forgetting to bring pen, the cinema, the sucky 1st meal etc, but I thoroughly enjoyed myself. HAHA! I love spending time with baby even though we didn't do much and I'm glad I wasn't super eager to do things because he prefers a slower pace, then again we're both ever willing to compromise. That's one thing I love about us :D Well, I'm not going back to Genting again in the near future, but I'm looking forward to our next getaway! :D ♥
you're going down for the world to see,
and i'm laughing at you :D
